Predecessor :

In taskera, if an object is having dependancy on it's child object, then the child object is called the predecessor to the main object. In other words, only after completion of the child object, the parent object will be able to complete. An object can have dependancy on another independant object, where only after completion of the predecessor object, the successor object can be completed.

In taskera, this dependancy or predecessor can be set to Projects, tasks and issues only. A project can be dependent on its child project or another independent project. Similarly a Task can be depedent on another task or sub-task; an issue can be dependent on another issue / sub-issue.

How to set the predecessor :

Go to the object to which you want to set the predecessor. click on the edit button at the bottom of the page and click on 'more' tab and choose 'predecessors' from the drop down list. You will be diverted to another page where you can enter the predecessor task name and the task dependency is selected from the drop down list. The predecessor task name is the name of the task which you want to be predecessor to this task. Enter the name of the task in the appropriate field. The task dependancy type means how the predecessor is depedent to the current task. There are 4 choices as follows.

  1. Finish to Finish : Finish to Finish means both object A and object B has to be completed at the same time.
  2. Finish to Start : Finish to Start means object A has to be completed to commence the object B.
  3. Start to Finish : Start to Finish means object A has to start only after object B is finished / completed.
  4. Start to Start : Start to Start means both object A and object B will Start at the same time.
